Proper gromov transforms of metrics are metrics

چکیده
In phylogenetic analysis, a standard problem is to approximate a given metric by an additive metric. Here it is shown that, given a metric D defined on some finite set X and a non-expansive map f : X → R, the one-parameter family of the Gromov transforms D of D relative to f and ∆ that starts with D for large values of ∆ and ends with an additive metric for ∆ = 0 consists exclusively of metrics. It is expected that this result will help to better understand some standard tree reconstruction procedures considered in phylogenetic analyis.

Convex projective structures on Gromov–Thurston manifolds
Gromov and Thurston in [10] constructed, for each n 4, examples of compact n– manifolds which admit metrics of negative curvature, with arbitrarily small pinching constants, but do not admit metrics of constant curvature. We review these examples in Section 3. The main goal of this paper is to put convex projective structures on Gromov– Thurston examples. Suppose that RP is an open subset and...
متن کاملλ-Projectively Related Finsler Metrics and Finslerian Projective Invariants
In this paper, by using the concept of spherically symmetric metric, we defne the notion of λ-projectively related metrics as an extension of projectively related metrics. We construct some non-trivial examples of λ-projectively related metrics. Let F and G be two λ-projectively related metrics on a manifold M. We find the relation between the geodesics of F and G and prove that any geodesic of...
متن کاملHUMAN METRICS AFFECTING SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF INDIAN MANUFACTURING ORGANIZATIONS
The manufacturing organizations today are having a competition of supply chain versus supply chain. Existing research work fails to relate human metrics with supply chain performance. The authors intend to empirically assess the effects of human metrics on supply chain performance in the context of Indian manufacturing organizations. A rigorous literature review has identified 12 variables. The...
متن کاملUsing the Taxonomy and the Metrics: What to Study When and Why; Comment on “Metrics and Evaluation Tools for Patient Engagement in Healthcare Organization- and System-Level Decision-Making: A Systematic Review”
Dukhanin and colleagues’ taxonomy of metrics for patient engagement at the organizational and system levels has great potential for supporting more careful and useful evaluations of this ever-growing phenomenon. This commentary highlights the central importance to the taxonomy of metrics assessing the extent of meaningful participation in decision-making by patients, consumers and community mem...
متن کاملReview of ranked-based and unranked-based metrics for determining the effectiveness of search engines
Purpose: Traditionally, there have many metrics for evaluating the search engine, nevertheless various researchers’ proposed new metrics in recent years. Aware of this new metrics is essential to conduct research on evaluation of the search engine field. So, the purpose of this study was to provide an analysis of important and new metrics for evaluating the search engines. Methodology: This is ...
